Sept 17, 1997
Acting on a tip-off from a source, who wishes to remain nameless, we found some interesting Infinity solo films on the net. The anonymous source directed us to the Vid Masters Film folder at the Marathon Hyperarchive Hotline. Not an easy place to find if you don't have the right software. But we persevered and made the trip. The films? Well we added them to the page. But where?

The If I Had a Rocket Launcher, I'd Make Somebody Pay page in the Vidmaster Tips & Tricks section has been updated with some new information.

Sept 11, 1997

If you want to completely Vid this level you need to do two films. To fully understand the mystery you need to go the new All Roads Lead To Sol... page in the Vidmaster Tips & Tricks section. You'll find Nick's films there too. Enjoy!

July 16, 1997
Another Acme Station film from Randall Shaw (a.k.a. Frigidman) <frigid@grayphics.com>. And this time all switches are punched. Way to go! Notice the odd part about three quarters of the way through. If you don't know what I mean then you've never really played this level. You can get Randall's film here.

Ever had a solo film cut off short at the end. You know the ones... heading for that final terminal or teleporter and the curtain closes... leaving you wondering what happened to the ending... that stylish bit where you took that last Trooper out with one punch. Well wonder no longer. Randall Shaw <frigid@grayphics.com> may have the answer and a solution. Randall writes:

Marathon plays the film file in chunks, and if a chunk is smaller than it likes, it ignores it and then ends the film. Thus causing many to loose perfectly good films due to a short time in a chunk.

SO... what you do, is open up the film file in that hexedit program, and add 00 a bunch of em till the film will play to the end where YOU ended it. Just keeping adding the 00 00 00 till it goes.

You cannot however adjust the film to end precisely when you want it too though... like right in the middle of transport out or something like that, because: of the chunk deal. Once you shorten a chunk to the last line, it will jump to another point to chop the movie.

Many thanks to Randall Shaw (a.k.a. Frigidman) <frigid@grayphics.com> for sending in a series of Vid films, including Acme Station - that notoriously difficult level. Yeah! if you think it's easy just try it! Randall's Vid pack also contains 7 films of the special Infinity Vidmaster levels. Randall writes:

These films are of me testing the vidmasters challenge levels after I got my Infinity from Bungie. I play tested the levels to see if Bungie changed anything, and they didn't as far as I figured.
For those of you who are not aware of the fact Randall Shaw converted three of the 85 solo Marathon levels to create the three special Infinity Vidmaster levels. The films of these levels were made only days after Infinity was released and are the first of their kind. Good to see them in the public domain. You can get them here.

July 12, 1997
Thanks to Rory Mitchell (a.k.a. Rorgore) <Rory.Mitchell@valley.net>, brother of the infamous BobJam, for sending in his first ever Vidmaster film. It's a film of the Marathon level Arrival - fist only, no recharging, no hits, all secrets shown, all aliens killed - the way levels should be done. You can get it here.

July 7, 1997
This is one of those Heinous Challenge films. Kain Osterholt (a.k.a Kain of Pain) <oster6@earthlink.net> does the Marathon 2 level If I had a Rocket Launcher, I'd Make Somebody Pay without recharging! But it's not one of those "let's get to the end terminal as fast as possible" films. Oh no!... it's a "let's try and clean out this level on 1X shields only" film. You can get Kain's film here or at the The Hard Stuff Rules... section.

How far can you get on If I had a Rocket Launcher, I'd Make Somebody Pay on 1X health without recharging? All the way? Have you got what it takes to go that extra distance with only a pixel width of health left or will you wuss out and turn tail for the final terminal?
