Vidmaster Tips & Tricks: Eat the Path
Home Sweet...
Eat the Path is the third and last of the so-called "dream" levels which follow the Electric Sheep levels. Like Whatever You Please it is has two paths but unlike the earlier level the paths diverge at the beginning making it appear impossible to follow both paths without restarting. Not so! The Rocket Launcher which is strategically placed at point A on the map below can be used to jump the gap at point B allowing you to return to the beginning and follow the other path. As the first terminal says:
There is only one path and that is the path that you take, but you can take more than one path.
Indeed there is only one path... but you have to find the right one.
This level also holds an interesting surprise. There are three high ledges containing 1X recharge cannisters (points 1, 2, and 3). You only get to these by using the teleporter floors of the lava pools. Of course this is handy if you happen to fall into the lava, or indeed are knocked in. But then you all knew that... no big secrets there! Yet there is a unique combination of teleporters which allows you to complete the level without raising any of the walkways. Remember, in Infinity the rules were meant to be broken...
Cross over the cell bars, find a new maze, make the maze from it's path, find the cell bars, cross over the bars, find a maze, make the maze from its path, eat the food, eat the path.
Munch the path...
you can run but you can't... is a set of three films showing how both paths can be 'munched' at once and the level completed in a matter of three minutes. Three films? Yeah!... like the number three is important in Infinity!
Oh yes... don't forget to call home! ;-)
Postscript. On Nov 28, 2001 (Wednesday) in a Story forum post Mark Levin drew attention to the fact the secret lava room on "Eat the Path" contained not only writing on the lava floor but also on the roof. Well I for one had missed the roof writing and had always thought that the word "HOME" was a reference to player's Jjaro origins. Now Zudo in a forum post today points out that the letters displayed on the roof spell "NO". He even posted a screenshot of the letters. Taken together the words now say:
NO HOMEAs Zudo points out:
I think that accurately reflects the player's status...
Nice one. You learn something new every day. :-)
