This hat cost US $306.00 after 57 bids on eBay. The self-styled 'GOD' Hat was part of an exclusive media package sent to content creators (streamers and the like) ahead of the Marathon reveal event in April 2025.  The 'GOD' Hat (size XXXL).

Day #949. I survived Marathon and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt.  Marathon T-Shirt "Escape Will Make Me God" posted by Noni on the Unofficial Marathon Discord. December 26, 2025. Noni, who hails from Spain, went to Tau Ceti and bought the T-Shirt that gives you God-like powers or something. I have no doubt that wearing this in public (even in Spain) will cause offence to someone. It's the times we live in.  Perhaps that's why Noni bought the Hoodie as well. But I digress. Bungie's Marathon T-Shirts have courted controversy in the past. There was the pro-NRA stance Marathon T-Shirt.  The Microsoft BOB versus Marathon BOB T-Shirt.  This T-Shirt played its part in the demise of Microsoft BOB delighting Apple fans. Bill Gates got his revenge seven fold though. You see in the real world size does matter. Garrett Post, a senior concept artist at Unknown Worlds Entertainment, is no stranger to Marathon. Back in October 2020 Garrett wrote: Early on in the pandemic I became obsessed with redesigning characters from Bungie's 1994 FPS Marathon, so I carried that into Inktober as well.Here are just four of his redesign sketches created during Inktober 2020.

To the leaked Marathon beta, gamma, blamma during October and early November. To the uniquely quirky Marathon Demo v0.0 in late November. To the eggheads in Macweek in early December. Day #941. "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." J. Robert Oppenheimer, 1945. Marathon has become Death.  The new tagline on marathonthegame.com is "DEATH IS THE FIRST STEP". It also appears in the original color version.  In describing Marathon, Bungie are now using descriptors such as: A GRAVEYARD OF POSSIBILITIES DEATH HANGS ABOVE DEATH DEALERS This of course all fits the new survival narrative for Marathon. Marathon will be challenging. Marathon will be dangerous. And you will die... ... and no amount of crying to your Mom is going to help. You need to put in the hours. Current estimates suggest 50 hours per week, minimum. Now before you say... PfhorS'pht! This is what Bungie said about their games on their 2nd Web Site back in October 1995 before the release of Marathon 2: Durandal. "We pledge that our games will effectively help our customers avoid work, put their personal lives in stasis and test their self-esteem to its core - and afterwards, they will swear it was worth it."You see some things never change. Day #938. Happy Last Polygon Filled Day. Yes folks, the tru7h is out there. To celebrate the release of the Marathon ViDoc Candor (@CandorR6) completes his Marathon level quartet of posters with Outpost and the UESC Marathon ship level Cryo Archive.
These are created in the WPA style typically seen in U.S. National Parks illustrations. The style features bold colors, strong graphic lines, and often a vintage or retro feel. The aim is not to slavishly replicate a scene but rather capture its feel. One moment you are looking at the pretty flowers on Outpost next your hair is on fire and you are running for shelter. Out of the fire into the... cooler. Cryo Archive is the creepy mystery level. Who was left in cryo storage and why are my feet and hands tingling? But I digress. We featured Candor's Perimeter and Dire Marsh posters back in November 4, 2025. Here they are again.

Day #935. Last polygon filled 6:05 PM Saturday, December 14.Happy Last Polygon Filled Day... err NO. December 14th was a Wednesday in 1994.  Marathon Soyjak stolen from @SIRDOBLEDAS. It's simply a mistake made by really tired developers. Marathon is finished. We've slept <10 hours over the last four days. We all put our hearts into this, not to mention the 14 hour days for months on end, so we hope you like it.To this day some They search for the last filled polygon "The Holygon" believing that finding it... will make them God. Today could be their/your lucky day.  Do you still cling to the belief that today is last polygon filled day? Do you believe that Jason Jones has green pee? Do you search in vain for "The Holygon"? Day #934. Happy Official Marathon World Wide Web Site Day. On this day 31 years ago Bungie Software and Group Cortex, a Philadelphia based ISP, announced the opening of the official website for Marathon.  Find out why Bungie dipped their toe into the World Wide Web and then pulled it out almost immediately on the Blasts from the Past section. You won't find this in the History of Bungie Volume 1 compendium. On the Official Marathon World Wide Web Site you could read the Story of Marathon long before the game was released. "At 0820 hours the UESC Marathon Space Station came under surprise attack by unknown alien forces."     The story continues... "The spaceport on the planet below was destroyed by low yield nuclear weapons minutes after the attack on the Marathon began, but the aliens seem to be more interested in the station."     The story ends... "You must save the Marathon and the colony from the invasion and keep on your toes as things go wrong. Good luck..."Save the ship. Save the colony. The colony has been wiped out. Phhht! Just like that. Oh man!  |

Day #930. That Marathon flyer. Thanks to fromsomeware (@fromsomeware) on tumblr for posting a high quality scan of the front of the Marathon flyer from 1994. Marathon Flyer posted by fromsomeware (@fromsomeware) on tumblr. December 6, 2025. It's only taken 30 years or so to get a high quality scan of this piece of Marathon memorabilia. The scan on the Story page while ok for its time just doesn't cut it with today's 7K monitors. Unsurprisingly all four screenshots are taken from a game that does not exist. There are no Enforcers on Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire! Fire!  There is no Hulk on the net level Mars Needs Women.  Nor are there Hunters on Mars Needs Women.  And the "Do Lung Bridge scene" on Defend THIS! never looked like that. More's the pity. Two of the flyer's screenshots also appeared in the Marathon Collage released on September 22, 1994. Indeed the seven screenshots in the Marathon Collage are also taken from a game that does not exist.  Yes, even this one.  You have to look carefully to spot why. The "Do Lung Bridge scene" screenshot was never officially released in digital format. Indeed if you look at it closely you will realise that it is made up. Marathon Is Dubious Advertising. |

Day #929. It's MIDA Monday. Misriah Massacre If you go by the date in the game the Misriah Massacre occurred in 2345. But Bungie corrected this date in The Lost Network Packets. The Misriah Massacre now occurred in 2442 in line with the Ares Raid, the Third Martian War, the MIDA coup and the launch of the Marathon. As Martian rioters stormed the United Earth Government Misriah food distribution center UEG riot troopers came under heavy plasma fire (according to the UEG).  The UEG indiscriminately opened fire on the crowd and over five hundred starving Martians fleeing the scene were incinerated (according to MIDA).  Turns out that only three of the starving Martians (Martian rioters) were armed. Those three became known as the Misriah Three. Their actions lead to the Third Martian War. Marathon Is Deadly Activism. |

Underwater fights are the bane of Marathon 2. No weapon will work (correctly) underwater apart from your fists. This official Marathon 2 screenshot might suggest otherwise. Did the player just kill a Fl'ckta with with the Zeus-Class Fusion Pistol? The Marathon 2 manual does say this about the Fusion Pistol: The S'pht have done their best to create an infinite supply of fusion batteries out of the finite number you were transported on board with. If it were not for their ingenuity and industrious nature you wouldn't be able to run around firing with reckless abandon at everything that moves as you are wont to do.Unfortunately reckless abandon doesn't work underwater in Marathon 2. Well apart from overloading your Fusion Pistol submerged. Try it Vidboi. |

Day #923. Fatum Iustum Stultorum.  I'M PISSING ON THE MOON!!!!!! by kamil-a (@kamil-a) on tumblr. November 14, 2025. kamil-a (@kamil-a) gives us... I'M PISSING ON THE MOON!!!!!! A tongue-in-cheek representation of the death of Tycho. Durandal tells us: Tycho's ship has been destroyed. The crater where it annihilated itself on Lh'owon's inner moon is still glowing. There were no survivors. With a focused message laser I burned his epitaph into the surface near the crash site, in letters three hundred meters high: "Fatum Iustum Stultorum."As fate would have it (or perhaps it was intentional) Durandal destroyed Tycho on a nameless Lh'owon moon. It was actually the first question in The Seventh HoTBob Competition. There are only three named Lh'owon moons in Marathon 2: K'lia, T'jia, and Y'loa. Their celestial positioning can be determined from clues in the game. Fatum Iustum Stultorum is Latin for "The Just Fate of Fools" or variations thereof. Even though Tycho was destroyed his Pfhor-made clones (based on sixty-four billion exobyte images of his core) helped the Pfhor delay their inevitable defeat by the S'pht for over fifty years.
