Day #1016. His elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.This is how the Pathways Into Darkness Official Hints Book described Herr Looney Tunes (an anonymous German soldier) on the level Welcome, Tasty Primate. You see... Pathways Into Darkness has Herr Looney Tunes and the tides. You know. I can't say. He who rises withOG Marathon has Gheritt White and the waves. Nu Marathon has Jasper and the waves. Day #1015. It's so over... But wait! There's more. Lot's more.  Finally we will get to meet Durandal... face to face. But I digress. They say that "history is written by the victors" and while that may be true it is rewritten and rewritten by those with agendas. And like the hundredth copy of a third generation duplication of a substandard bootleg it becomes a little fuzzy. One might even say unreliable. What did you learn at school today? Lesson 3.4: Mars, Our First Colony.  Lesson 5.25: A Watershed Famine.  Because you asked for it. More Colony Lilith  Bastion  Gabriel  Icarrus  Who said there wouldn't be much reading in Marathon? Day #1014. It's MIDA Monday. MIDA Pirate Radio returns with Mix 007. 175 NuMusic tracks for when you kill and pillage on Tau Ceti IV. The opening track is... This Day in Marathon.
Day #1013. New month. New lore. Welcome aboard the UESC Marathon. Keep your hands and feet inside the rails at all times. Do not feed the AIs.  Hey YOU! Open the Pod Bay doors. Back on July 26, 2024 we featured the humerous "My Job Is To Open and Close Doors" by Mattias Pilhede and Sai Cheung. You can see it again below. The UESC Marathon is a happy place. No major incidents to report. So says the UESC Marathon Incident Report.  Pro-MIDA graffeti on the external surface of the ship (Demios). You can just imagine what that said. Fortunately it was removed... ▊ ▊ ▊ ▊ T H E U E S C Dr. Bernhard Strauss causing trouble again? If this is indeed Dr. Strauss then it must have been close to the end of the voyage as he was put into in stasis for three hundred years. A UESC Security Briefing on the Anomaly on Tau Ceti.  Sounds like aliens to me. Shades of Annihilation perhaps? Annihilation is 2018 science fiction cosmic horror film in which a group of scientists enter the Shimmer, a mysterious quarantined zone of mutating plants and animals caused by an alien presence. The Shimmer appeared following a meteor crash on Earth. Inside the Shimmer the bodies of soldiers are found that have been colonized.   A BoB reference.  According to the Marathon manual: The original crew of the Marathon consisted of 50 Senior Staff, 1150 Officers, and 24,000 civilians all of whom were citizens of the Mars Colony or Earth. Some individuals were placed in stasis for the interstellar journey, but most civilians lived and worked on the ship and raised families there. As the crew aged, a new generation of humans were born and raised on the Marathon. By some, these children were looked down upon and called "Bob", short for born on board. These citizens grew to run the ship and many can be seen in the game running for their lives. It is your sworn duty as a security officer to protect Bob.  |
