Size: 955 x 980 pixels
Date: July 1995 (Marathon HyperArchive NorthWest at ese.ogi.edu)
About: One of five pieces of Marathon art Craig did in early 1995.

Speaking about his early Marathon work in a 2013 interview Craig remarked:

"In 1994, I think Marathon came out at the very end of the year. I remember playing it over Christmas break. A few months later, I did some fan art."

This large version (955 x 980 pixels) was sent by Craig to the Marathon HyperArchive NorthWest in July 1995. My original version of this image (290 x 335 pixels) in BinHex format won't uncompress correctly. The original size of 290 x 335 pixels is odd in that it doesn't scale up to 955 x 980 pixels.

Size: 832 x 624 pixels
Date: May 1997 (Marathon Trilogy Box Set)
About: One of sixteen Marathon Desktop Pictures on the Marathon Trilogy CD. In order to make this a Desktop Picture Bungie had to crop the original image.

POSTER
Filename: POSTER.jpg
Size: 955 x 980 pixels
Date: September 2004 (goodbrush.com)
About: Note that Craig renamed this image as 'POSTER'. This image is slight sharper that the top one. This is particularly noticeable around the head and chest area.

Below are some comments about this image left by people who visited goodbrush.com back in the day.

anytime soon the elevator doors will open and all hell will break loose

I just started browsing these since I saw Craig's name at Bungie, but I think this is quite good. Most of the others are "heat of the moment" types, and have a warm lighting to them. This is just the epitome of a calm before the storm; if you're familiar with elevator scenes in any kind of movie or game, it's often the only peaceful moment you come across. Individually it's a little bare, but as a set, this really puts out a good contrast of mood to the combat shots.
