Hhmm. Just noticed that a portion of this particular painting appears on the back of the "Mac Action Sack" jewel case. It's nice to see other versions but I still think the one that appears in-game is the coolest.

Great recreation of my favorite Marathon pic. This sketch just screams 'badass'.

This isn't a recreation, it's a prior draft to the first one, i believe. I found a discarded (joke?) promo add that Bungie put out for M2, called "HotDogs", Which sported the Marine's chest, head, and him holding the skull/skeleton. It reads "This is what they put into hot dogs on other planets. In Marathon 2, an arsenal of seven different weapons makes you the master of mystery meat, butchering nasty aliens who threaten your personal space. Sausage casings not included"

Ah, yes, Munch. I love those ads.

About: In 2004 Bungie modified the Mac Action image with advertising and renamed it 'VicOnARealBadDay'. It was provided as a Marathon Wallpaper in various sizes the largest being 1600 x 1200 pixels.

It remains unclear as to what the intent of the renaming was meant to imply. Was this an attempt to name the player character? Or did it refer to the Pfhor who has been ripped asunder? Or was it a reference to Vic Lennard, editor of the short-lived Mac Action magazine? In April 1997 Craig Mullins in an alt.games.marathon post about Mac Action wrote:

"Does anyone know the whereabouts of the guy that used to run that magazine? I think his name was Vic Lennard or something like that."
