"**Marathon Scene**

For Bungie's Game Marathon. The player is doing something to a fallen comrade/enemy, either helping or scavenging. It is more interesting to allow the viewer to read into an image somewhat."

Describing this image in a gamasutra.com feature in January 2000 Craig wrote:

"I wanted the ambiguity of not knowing the releationship between the marine and the broken alien pod ship. Is he administering first aid? Making sure it is dead? Scavenging? Destroying vital information? I think it is more interesting when you can let the viewer read into things a little. This one was used in the game."

I was looking at this earlier today, on the Marathon Scrapbook. You are my personal hero. I'm sure you get it a lot, but I am serious. Your Marathon work is the reason I got PS. Thank you.

8 or 9 years ago I played a lot of Marathon. The reason: awsome gameplay but especially Marathon had an incredible atmospheer. I appreciated this picture and I still find that this picture captured that atmospheer perfectly (probably helped create it). A real lone warrior mood, Great work!

I remember playing Marathon on my brand-spankin new Power Mac 6100/66 when I was like 12 and being awestruck by Mullins. Been a fan and inspired by him ever since.
