Vidmaster Tips & Tricks: Couch Fishing

Reeling in the years

Couch Fishing cranks up the difficulty a few notches. This is where you get your first taste of Trooper flesh. Leela told you about these guys on Defend THIS! but did you bother to listen?

The Trooper is armored for vacuum conditions and carries a combination explosive and impact projectile weapon which is similar to your AR-75.

Yeah but you don't have an AR-75 when you start this level so you have your work cut out.

The objective is to activate three control switches to block Durandal's access to vital sections of the ship. While there are three switches you only need to activate one (point A on the map below) to successively complete this level. Ah! but where's the fun in that at least one of the other switches has a Trooper in front of it. Activate them all Vid Boi!

This is one of those levels where keeping your head is very important. Three things will help you:

The maze like corridors while initially daunting can prove to your advantage when trying to avoid a rampaging Trooper.

There is a trick to this level. The door (point B on the map) leading to the areas with the high walkways can be kept open. Once open there are two approaches you can take to finishing the level. Dive into the mêlée killing everything as you proceed to the final terminal or get the Pfhor to follow you back to this door and they will drop down through the opening in the floor. Out of sight but not out of mind. Don't forget to go back down and finish them off. The S'pht (compilers) being a more inteligent race won't fall for this rather simple trick.

If you're vidding this level don't forget the secret ammo cache at point C on the map. Interesting to note that it is not possible to pick up all the ammo in this small storage area.

gone fishing is a film of Couch Fishing by an old timer. It's completed with fist and pistol only. It's one of those dive into the mêlée films. Enjoy.
