"nasty words" in Marathon v1.1

Has anyone ever searched through the data fork of MArathon 1.1, unlike 1.0, 
but I have not checked 1.2, it says some very nasty words, involving rape type 
things, it is REALLY strange.

Yes, there are a bunch of nasty words and phrases in the data fork of
Marathon.

Someone mentioned this on the Bungie eWorld forum, and Bungie responded to
it with the explanation:

The words are used by the Serial Number generator/verifier to make sure
no swears appear in a Serial Number. They got into the data fork by
mistake (they're not in 1.0, but they are in 1.1)
