Maybe it would be a better idea to follow the path of least resistance and
try going back up to the "Ground Floor" level and exploring what the other
ladder-down leads to (I think the level is called "Feel the Power").

But that's just a suggestion. :) And BTW, I think "The Labyrinth" is
completely random.

I'm interested in feedback on this, but here are the reasons Bungie
changed the saved game system for Pathways between the demo and the
release version:

It is too easy to save in the demo. Nobody thinks about saving-- they
just do it. If you could save like this in the release version, it
would be too easy to brick yourself in a corner: "Uh, I don't know
why I saved with 0.2 vitality with that bone four inches from my nose."
(trust me, it's been done).

Or even worse, "Yea, sure I saved after I drank that Red Potion-- but
it didn't seem to do anything, what do you mean I need it?!"

The save dialog forces people to THINK about what they are doing,
and better yet it easily supports (and even encourages) players
to keep multiple saved games around without having to resort to
the Finder.

The save runes (as someone previously said) allow an additional
level of difficulty to be added to the game, but more importantly
they make dying mean something in the release version. In the
demo, dying was meaningless: if you died, you just reverted to the
game you had saved a few minutes (or seconds) previously.

In the release version, dying sets you back. So you don't want
to die. IMHO, this makes game is more exciting when you're in
a dangerous situation.

You're missing something on "Watch Your Step". Search the south wall

Well, you _do_ need a lot of potions to get through this series
of levels, but let me suggest a few things:

* immediately use the green crystal on every group of monsters
  whose feet touch the ground.

* use the violet crystal on the banshees!

* the grenade launcher is fun, but takes too long to reload
most of the time; use it once and then switch to the AK-47.

* begin each room by sidestepping into the left or right
  corner.

* never try to sleep :)

You'll find the gold key on the second to last level of the game, "Where
Only Fools Dare Tread" on the body of an unfortunate Cuban. You'll
have to open the door on your way up.

The grenade launcher is on "Need a Light?" (accessable only from the
Labyrinth), but you'll need the Cedar Box because there are only
five or six grenade cartridges in the game.

Hope this helps,

Ooops. Sounds like you forgot to pick up the Alien Gemstone which
appears after you kill the last guy (didn't Javier tell you that you
needed the gemstone to leave?)

Watch out, though, that stone will give you radiation burns unless
you're careful ...

If you always get spanked when you go down a ladder, try going somewhere
else. :) On the other side of the "Ground Floor" level, there is another
ladder-down which leads to a level called "Wrong Way!". The MP-41 is
down that way, somewhere...

Go down to "Watch Your Step". You're looking for a new crystal, in
an alcove at the center of the south wall of the level. Watch out,
there's about a billion spiders hiding around there.

Don't worry about the gold key. There's another level below "Lasciate
Ogne Speranza, Voi Ch'Intrate" called "Watch Your Step". You can get to
it without going through any force fields.

PS. Does anyone know what Lasciate Ogne Speranza, Voi Ch'Intrate means?

I hope you have lots of potions. <grin>

The key is to drop a different object in each of the four rooms and
map the ways in which they connect. If you find this too irritating,
try: right, forward, back.
