BANDAI DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT'S NEW PIPPIN @WORLD™ SOFTWARE STRATEGY OFFERS FUN AND FUNCTION ON THE TELEVISION

On a TV, users can enjoy the experience of a multimedia personal computer without high costs

PC EXPO, New York City, June 18, 1996 -- Bandai Digital Entertainment Corp.'s (BDEC) software bundle with the new Pippin @World provides users with the benefits of a multimedia personal computer experience that can be enjoyed on a TV.

Users will be able to surf the web, exchange e-mail, word process and play computer-style CD-ROMs all on a television in the comfort of their home. By using a TV, people will no longer be relegated to the small monitor in the home office to surf the net, play a game or use the encyclopedia. Also, they are spared the expense of spending thousands to install and configure a multimedia personal computer.

A web browser comes with the product and users can have the opportunity to purchase a configured CD-ROM from PSINet at $24.95 per month that will enable them to access the Internet by means of the Pippin @World quad-speed CD-ROM player. Accessing the Internet will be as easy as inserting the Internet disk and turning the TV on. Pippin @World will do the rest.

TV Works, another CD-ROM included by BDEC, provides the capability to word process, send-receive-store Internet e-mail, cut and paste and manipulate text, and draw from an included keyboard and digitized tablet.

Also, the Pippin @World lets users take advantage of other Cyber/CDs, a multimedia CD-ROM that provides Internet access, with those that combine edutainment and infotainment.

Cyber/CDs such as the DigiToy Movioke -- a Cyber/CD that plays scenes from popular movies, strips out the dialogue and allows users to dub in their own voice -- will bring fun entertainment to the TV. In a Cyber/CD format, a take can be sent along the World Wide Web to other Movioke fans, or additional movie-related content available on-line can be attached. Movioke is planned to be released Sept. 15.

In addition, BDEC is developing its own Cyber/CDs. Racing Days, soon to be announced, will let a user drive a race car on a variety of courses, with the option of competing with other players on the web.

General availability of the Pippin @World in the United States will be in September when the new product starts shipping at the price of $599.
