As has been mentioned several times already in this newsgroup the beta
say "BETA: DO NOT DISTRIBUTE" onscreen in big red letters. There is
literally no way that anyone could miss this message or misunderstand
it.

It has a 1994 copyright on the title scree, and on the status panel shown
during game play it says "Beta do not distribute" in big red letters.

With all due respect, Andy:

BALONEY!

The reason all these betas are running around is because someone leaked it
and lots more people copied it in spite of the obvious "DO NOT DISTRIBUTE"
notice on it.

True - but the only way to read the "DO NOT DISTRIBUTE" notice is to
download the game and run it.
