You asked for it! Ok, from a previous post... somebody mentioned this following page... http://www.marathon.org/story/pageWHAT.html All right, I didn't understand this so I immediately went to http://www.marathon.org/story/page7.html (as everything of Hamish's page is crazy with sevens). So I ended up with some congratulatory message telling me I'm about to learn all these secrets and such. I click on that. I'm sent to http://www.marathon.org/story/page49.html with a message from Marathon 1's Durandal mocking me that I got "kidnapped" (message is obviously adapted from Marathon 1's Blaspheme Quarantine). So I used THAT Link in THAT page and I ended up looping back to the first weblink listed above. So I read the real cryptic message (though first I thought it was a Not Found message)... ***INCOMING MESSAGE FROM DURANDAL*** Greetings. You're asking yourself: Is this a trap or just a dead end? It is neither. It is a test of patience, observation and intelligence. There is a solution, and I don't even think that it's a very difficult one. ... I scroll a couple times down onto the page and find some really odd poem. I won't list it here 'caues this post's getting long anyway. Before the poem is another terminal message adapted yet again from Blaspheme Quarantine... ***INCOMING MESSAGE FROM DURANDAL*** Isn't hanging around here getting a little bit boring? Get lost kid. Scram. Ciao. What are you looking for anyway? If you're looking for a clue that was left here by Hamish some months ago to help you solve my puzzle then forget it. I erased it the moment he left it. The fool thought he could cheat me. *** <<Since you have nothing better to do than hang out here with me, listen to this 20th century song I downloaded from the Marathon's data banks. Leela said that it reminded her of you. I've altered some of the words but I'm sure the original songwriter wouldn't object. Her name was Holly Knight, but I won't bore you with the details>> ... I don't understand the poem or understand what that thing about Leela is. I know I'm close to getting to the page, but I need some help being pointed the right direction. And I know you know where it is Matthew, 'cause I saw you on the what's new section page. ;) -- +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ |This place is so weird even the cockroaches moved next door. | |Michael Park | |<forspambots>eat@spam.com(Remove DAMNTHATSPAM in domain to reply)| +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ Subject: Re: Marathon Story Unknown Page... Now that it's been posted on usenet, it's attracting too much attention, and isn't really a challenge any more. The page is still there, but I fear it's the end for adding membership to this particular "club." ....................................................
