The two companions began to make their way towards the grand hall. It must have looked very strange to see two beings so different moving together through the darkened halls of Marathon. The Messenger had the lead; he moved slowly with his weapon drawn, while Reehath brought up the rear.
He was very worried that more pfhor would show up, but felt safer knowing that his newfound friend was with him.

They walked through room after empty room. They could hear explosions and fighting far away but it never seemed to find them.

"Durandal, can you translate this to my Seefit friend for me?" said the Messenger, seemingly into space.

"So what do you think of your new found freedom? Durandal told me that he plans on leading your race in rebellion against the aliens that attacked our ship." The Messenger turned his visor-covered eyes to the floating alien beside him.

At first the words were just sounds to Reehath, but in a few moments they were repeated in his head in the language of the Seefit. Since the language of the human was being translated for him, Reehath assumed it would be the same the other way around. He sent his thoughts to the Messenger,

"Freedom. The Seefit haven't used that word in a very long time. I never thought about it before, but that's what this is.
I finally have freedom, something that I have been longing for all my life. I have great respect for this Durandal, even though I have only recently gained knowledge of him."

The Messenger just nodded as they passed through yet another bulkhead.
