WAD Father - introduction

Since Marathon was launched games such as Quake and Unreal Tournament have overtaken it in the incorporation of larger and higher resolution textures. Only with the gradual development of Aleph One has it become possible to utilise the textures that many people designed for Unreal & Q3. Many of those textures are available for free use and can be found in repositories such as WAD Father in the Gamespy network. Though many exist within WADs some are also free for distribution as jpeg, pcs or tga format and can be used in Aleph One. It should be noted that while all the collections below are for free use, some have extra conditions attached to them.

Note that while most textures included here are square (128x128 or 256x256) some are also rectangular can can not be readily used in Aleph One.
